  • Any other details you willingly share in relation to your use of the Services.

Information about others

Should you choose to direct your purchase to an individual other than yourself (like gifting a course or resource), we utilise the details you offer about that person to facilitate the delivery.

2. INFORMATION COLLECTED AUTOMATICALLY

As you interact with our Services, we gather specific details as outlined in this section. Both we and our service providers (third-party companies collaborating with us) might use an assortment of technologies, including cookies and similar mechanisms, to assist in this data collection.

Websites

When accessing our website, we gather and analyse details such as your IP address, browser variety, browser language, operating system, software and hardware attributes (including device IDs), referring and exit URLs, click count, viewed pages and their sequence, date and time of access, studied content, total time spent reading, error logs, and other analogous data regarding your website usage.

When employing our Imperial Feng Shui Academy application, we automatically ascertain specific data about the device used to access the app. This includes device identifiers, IP address, operating system details, version, ISP, browser specifications, domain names, app update status, usage time and date, content engaged with, total time spent, error logs, and similar application usage information.

Location Data

Utilising our Services, we and our service providers might automatically amass general location data (for instance, IP address linked to a city/state or postal code).

3. INFORMATION FROM SOCIAL MEDIA AND PLATFORMS

Should you engage with our Services via a third-party connection or login (like through a social network), you could grant us permission to access and store certain details from your social network profile. Depending on your platform settings, this might encompass your name, profile image, “likes”, “check-ins”, and friends list. To avoid sharing this data, refrain from using a social network connection for our Services. For information on how these platforms manage your data, consult their privacy policies and terms, which might let you adjust your privacy settings. Optionally, you might share your Academy activities on these platforms (e.g., sharing that you joined a course); by doing so, you acknowledge your network will see this activity.

4. DATA FROM EXTERNAL SOURCES

We might also receive supplemental data such as demographic and statistical details from entities like business partners, market experts, researchers, and analysts. This data, potentially linked to you based on certain statistical groupings, enhances our understanding of your interests. This better informs our services, analytics, and marketing strategies.

Aggregated/Anonymised Information

  • We might aggregate or anonymise any data collected, ensuring it no longer identifies you or your device. This anonymised data might be employed for various intentions, such as research or marketing. We may also disclose this anonymised data to partners, advertisers, and sponsors.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

To gather the details in the “Information We Collect Through Automated Means” segment, our Academy and service providers employ server logs, cookies, tracking pixels, and other parallel tracking mechanisms. We harness these tools to offer you a more personalised experience, understanding and recalling your unique browsing tendencies. Cookies are minuscule text files placed on your computer or mobile device during a site visit. They enable us to:

  • Recognise your device
  • Remember your preferences and settings
  • Understand the sections of the Academy’s Services you’ve accessed
  • Enhance your learning experience by presenting content and ads tailored to your interests
  • Conduct searches and analytics
  • Strengthen security and administrative functions

Cookies may be stored in your browser cache, while those related to Flash technologies rest with your Adobe Flash Player files.

As our Academy embraces newer technologies, we might gather data through different means. Remember, you can adjust your settings to receive notifications when a cookie is set or updated, or to block cookies entirely. For guidance, refer to your browser’s “Help” section (e.g., Internet Explorer; Google Chrome; Mozilla Firefox; Apple Safari). Additionally, Flash technologies, including flash cookies and local storage objects, can be managed using the tools available at Adobe’s website. Kindly note, if you block or manage cookies, some features or resources of our Academy’s Services may be inaccessible.

5. Online Analytics and Advertising

  • ANALYTICS

We might employ third-party analytics services, such as Google Analytics, on our Academy’s platform to gather and assess user data via cookies and comparable tools. These tools help in research, reporting, fraud prevention, and enhance user features. If you wish to prevent Google Analytics from accessing your data, you can install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on here.

When you receive emails from our Academy, we might use analytics tools like clear GIFs to capture data when you open our emails or interact with the links or banners contained therein. This helps us understand the impact of our communications and improve our marketing strategies.

  • ONLINE ADVERTISING

Our Academy’s platform may incorporate third-party ad technologies to deliver pertinent content and advertisements both within our platform and on external sites or apps. Advertisements might be curated based on the content you interact with, the information you provide (like age or gender), your search queries, demographic information, user-generated content, and other data we gather. These tailored ads could be shaped by your current interactions or your online behaviour over time across various platforms.

Certain third parties may place cookies or other trackers on your devices to gather data about you, including your email address. These third parties (e.g., ad networks like Google, DoubleClick, Meta) might present you with tailored ads across the web and might access their own cookies or trackers on your device when you use our Academy’s services.

We don’t have access to or control over these third-party trackers, and our Privacy Policy doesn’t cover their use. If you wish to understand more about tailored browser advertisements and how to generally regulate cookies, you can check the Network Advertising Initiative’s Consumer Opt-Out link, the Digital Advertising Alliance’s Consumer Opt-Out link, or Your Online Choices. For Google-related ad settings, visit the Google Ads Settings page. We are not accountable for your choices made through these tools or their continued availability or accuracy. While you can opt out, please remember that you will still encounter ads on our platform, but they won’t be customised based on your online behaviour.

  • NOTICE CONCERNING DO NOT TRACK

Do Not Track (DNT) is a privacy preference available in some browsers. While we are dedicated to offering you choices about third-party data collection, we currently don’t recognise or act upon DNT signals. To understand more about DNT, visit here. Note, DNT differs from the “preference signal” in the “Your Rights and Choices” section, which lets users opt-out of specific data processing activities under applicable laws.

6. How We Disclose Your Information

Our academy will disclose your information in the following ways:

Affiliates and Collaborative Partners

We may disclose the information we collect within our network of associated Chinese metaphysics institutions and partners. This helps in delivering courses, ensuring a consistent level of education, and improving our offerings, services, and your learning experience.

Service Providers

We grant access to or share your information with select third parties who facilitate services for us. They can perform these services but are forbidden from using your information for unrelated activities. They provide a diverse array of services, including billing, enrollment, marketing, course content creation, advertising, analytics, research, student support, data storage, security, fraud prevention, payment processing, and legal services.

Protection of Our Academy and Others

By enrolling in our courses, you acknowledge and agree that we might access, retain, and disclose the information we gather about you if mandated by law or if we genuinely believe that such actions are necessary to: (a) abide by legal mandates (e.g., a subpoena); (b) uphold our Enrollment Agreement, this Privacy Policy, or other contracts with you, including investigating potential breaches; (c) address claims that any content infringes on third-party rights; (d) cater to your student support requests; and/or (e) safeguard the rights, assets, or personal safety of our academy, its members, students, and the general public. This could involve sharing information with other entities for fraud protection and similar objectives.

Business Developments

As we grow and evolve, we might collaborate, merge, or form partnerships with other educational entities. During such developments, student information could be among the shared assets. If we were to restructure or transfer our assets to another organization, student data (including your email address) would likely be among the transferred educational resources. If such transfers are subject to stricter regulations by law, we will adhere to those rules.

Discussion Forums

Some features of our platform may allow you to post comments or engage in discussions that are visible to other students. Anything you share in these spaces is public knowledge, and we might use it for various purposes (like in testimonials). Anything you publicly share will be accessible to all users and might be found through third-party search engines. Thus, please be cautious when participating in these forums.

Aggregate/Anonymous Information

Occasionally, we might disclose Aggregate/Anonymous data about the use of our academy, for instance, by releasing a report on enrollment trends. The sharing of such information is unrestricted.

Retention of Your Information
Our academy holds onto your information only as long as required for the educational processes and objectives. The retention period is based on the nature of the information, its purpose, and legal mandates.

How We Safeguard Your Information
Our academy employs both technical and organisational security protocols to shield the information you share through our courses from potential loss, misuse, and unauthorised breaches, alterations, or dissemination. Yet, it’s essential to understand that no online platform or email system is entirely impervious to threats or errors. Be cautious when sharing any sensitive information with our academy over the internet.

External Links and Features
Our educational platform might have links to external resources, like recommended reading on other websites, or may incorporate third-party plugins (like sharing buttons for Social Media). Should you opt to utilise these external links or features, you might be sharing your details not just with those third-party entities but potentially with a broader audience, based on the functioning of these third-party platforms. We don’t oversee the content or modus operandi of these external sites or features. Any collection, utilisation, or sharing of your details will be governed by the privacy norms of these third-party platforms, not our Privacy Policy. We strongly recommend reading the privacy policies of these external entities.

Privacy of Minors
Our courses are curated for general enthusiasts and not explicitly for children below 13 years of age. If we discover that we’ve unintentionally accumulated “personal data” from children younger than 13 without proper parental consent, we’ll endeavour to remove such data promptly. We are also committed to not knowingly processing the data of residents from the EU below the age of 16 without appropriate parental authorisation. Should we become privy to any such unauthorised data collection, steps will be taken to expunge the data without delay. We also align with age-related requirements and restrictions as prescribed by pertinent local regulations.

7. Your rights and choices

Depending on your location, you might have rights concerning your “personal information” or “personal data” (as defined by relevant laws). As a student or user of our academy, you might have the right to:

Before processing any requests, we’ll verify your identity. You can also have an authorised person act on your behalf, but they’ll need proper documentation.

For further details or to act on your rights, please contact us via our designated privacy portal or email us at admin@imperialfengshui.com. If we reject your request, relevant laws might allow you to appeal our decision.

8. Updates to our Privacy Policy

We continuously strive to uphold the highest standards in managing our Services. As such, we may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to mirror changes in legislation, how we process and manage your data, any modifications in our teachings, or due to technological advancements. We’ll ensure that our updated Privacy Policy is always available on our platform, so it’s a good practice to review it once in a while. The “Last Updated” timestamp at the start of the policy will indicate any changes since your last visit. Should there be a significant amendment, we’ll notify you accordingly, in line with legal norms. Your continued engagement with our Academy website signifies your acknowledgement and comprehension of the most recent version of our Privacy Policy.
