Trigram

Alternative Term:
卦, gua

A trigram, also known as Gua (卦) in Chinese metaphysics, is a concept used in various Chinese philosophical and divinatory systems, most notably in the I Ching. Trigrams are composed of three lines, which can be either solid (yang) or broken (yin), and they serve as symbolic representations of different natural and cosmic forces. Each trigram is a fundamental building block in understanding the interactions and balance of energies. It shares the same Chinese character as the Hexagram.
